Shukur was a mureed of Wali Ali’s, probably initiated around the early
90’s. He was a regular attendee of the Northwest Sufi Camp and other
Sufi activities in the Pacific Northwest from the late 70’s on. Physically
he suffered from a debilitating disease that confined him to a wheel
chair and took his vision but his wit and joy for music never left him.
He was a consummate punster and story teller. Loved jazz and old
radio and hugs.
